Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) recently visited Clow Valve as part of her manufacturing tour, celebrating American jobs and innovation. Clow was honored to be one of only four manufacturers selected for the tour. During her visit. Rep. Miller-Meeks had an opportunity to meet with plant leadership and learn more about the facility, its history, products, and economic impact to the Oskaloosa and Mahaska County community. The visit culminated in a tour of the facility’s newly expanded foundry followed by time with team members and local union representatives.
The congresswoman said she makes these manufacturing visits because they're an important way to keep in touch with what manufacturers need and their concerns. She said her First Congressional District is the state's largest manufacturing district. During the visit to Clow, Rep. Miller-Meeks indicated that access to affordable, reliable energy will be the key to American companies competing globally.
According to Rep. Miller-Meeks, “We’re not going to compete on labor costs. We’re proud of the labor practices in the United States. We’re proud of our environmental and sustainability record. But at the same point in time, to be able to compete globally, you have to control what cost you can. And energy is one of those."
Much of the discussion also centered around water — both water quality and water infrastructure.
As one of the area’s largest employers, the dedicated men and women of Clow Valve appreciated the opportunity to showcase their work and the products they make, which play an essential role in our nation’s waterworks infrastructure.
