Tyler Union was pleased to host another student from a certified Foundry Education Foundation (FEF) university for a Summer internship. Elizabeth “Liz” Fontana is a rising senior from Virginia Tech, where she is majoring in Material Science & Engineering.  Liz spent her internship rotating through each of the molding operations, as well as the Melt department, Pattern and Machine Shop, Quality, and Product Engineering.  This exposed Liz to the many facets of our foundry to help her gain a basic understanding of the overall process. As a capstone project to her internship, Liz was tasked with designing new tooling utilizing all of the skills she had obtained.  On her last day, Liz made a presentation to the management team about the experience she gained during the internship, along with a report on her design project.

Congratulations Liz on a successful internship and good luck during your senior year.
